The Rayer Bazar mass killing site is located in the market of Roypur of Mohammadpur, Dhaka. Realizing the defeat of the 1971 liberation war, the Pakistani ruling system progressed to implement a malicious plan to make Bangladesh unmatched forever. They thought that if this country is unmatched, then the backbone of the Bangali nation will be broken. For this reason, they had killed the people of the country from the beginning of the liberation war, conscience, consciousness, ideology, tradition and carrier of culture, and the children of the soil intellectuals. However, between 10 and 14 December, this barbarity and the massacre make a terrible appearance. The guerrillas of the country's countrymen, teachers, journalists, playwright, artists, etc. were taken from the house by the guidance and guidance of the Pakistani ruling group and caused this massacre. They are Gobind Chandra Deb, Munir Chowdhury, Mofazzal Haider Chowdhury, Shahidullah Kaiser, Dr. Fazle Rabbi, and many of the first-rate leaders of the country, including the killing of many intellectuals, brutally killed. Shortly after his victory, his wounds were found in the site of the monument of Rayer Bazar. To keep their memories memorable, this intellectual monument was built which is known as Rayer Bazar mass killing site "Smriti Souadh".

The whole space is 3.51 acres. It is divided into a grid of 15.24 meters square. The original altar is 2.44 meters high on the road. The main part of the memorial is 17.68m high, 0.91m thick and 115.82m long bored walls made of brick. This is the symbol of the original idol of Rayer Bazar, where the bodies of the intellectuals were read. The wall is broken by two. The broken wall indicates the grief and sadness of the incident. On the south-western side of the wall there is a window of 6.10 meters square. The sky behind the window can be seen. The window reduces the magnitude of the wall.

There is a fixed reservoir on the front of the curved wall. A pillar of black granite stone has emerged from the reservoir. This is the symbol of mourning. The main entrance to the monument is in the south-eastern corner of the courtyard. By entering this, the visitors face a banyan tree. This banyan tree is a symbol of the original banyan tree in the nearby body-education college premises. Under the original tree, martyr intellectuals were initially tortured and tortured and then killed in Itkhola. Other trees that are planted in the chamber, except for evergreens, have dropped out at certain times. These trees remain unmanned in December. At this annual event, festivity becomes more emotional.

How to go

Older residents of Dhaka will have to come to Babubazar if they want to go to Rayer Bazar mass killing site. Following the Babu Bazar Bridge, some local buses from the Jajibali Brothers are left from the adjacent river. It will cut a ticket of 12 taka and go to the intellectual memorial. Also, if you come from Gabtoli, you can also get the ticket for 13/14 Taka in the transportation of vehicles like Janjibail Brothers. There are enough vehicles for transporting Brothers on this route. Or you can go to Dhanmondi 15 (old) and get rickshaw after going to Mohammadpur bus.
